What is God’s Food Chart?
I’m Jason Schembri. After examining scripture in God’s Word in depth—patiently, prayerfully, and with careful attention to context—a clear picture of His intended diet has emerged.
What unfolded was a simple, powerful alignment between the way God created our bodies and the food He provided for our health to flourish. This research has taken me nearly a year to complete and continues to grow, revealing a beautiful truth: God’s design is perfect.
The most significant feature of this food chart is its foundation. It is not built on modern nutritional trends, cultural assumptions, or popular fads. It is rooted solely in the Word of God—His priorities, His order, and His wisdom. Even though He began delivering His messages on food 6,000 years ago, it does align with modern scientific knowledge, some of which is coming to light even now.

The Seven Most Mentioned Foods of the Bible

Bread – 303 mentions
Bread occupies the highest prominence in scripture—not only as a food source but as symbol of life and a daily need, even a metaphor for Christ Himself. His word repeatedly affirmed bread to be good, essential, and central to life.
Wine – 174 mentions
Wine played a major role in celebration, worship, and daily life. However, scripture consistently pairs wine with caution. Moderation is a biblical mandate. The first recorded person in history to drink wine was Noah.
Meat – 99 mentions
While meat was given special attention, and with good reason as we will see. In fact, God did not give permission to eat any meat at all until after the flood. For fifteen hundred years we ate only plants.
Oil – 65 mentions
A large 2022 study found that those who consume the highest amounts of olive oil were 31% less likely to develop cancer. This is credited to the antioxidants in olive oil that help reduce oxidative damage cause by free radicals, a leading driver of cancer.
Honey – 27 mentions
A 2021 review of multiple studies that showed, “that honey may help men with erectile dysfunction by improving erections due to vasodilation effects. It may also improve daily sperm production and lifespan, and restore testosterone levels.”
Fruit – 57 mentions
Fruit formed the earliest staple and continued to appear throughout scripture as a blessing and symbol of spiritual health. Nuts are included in the fruit group specifically almonds and pistachios.
Vegetables – 5 mentions
Surprisingly, vegetables appeared only a handful of times, emphasizing that while beneficial, they were not presented as a primary food source.
